Week 11 Thursday Night Football 2022 Preview

by | Nov 17, 2022 | Football

On Thursday night, week 11 kicks off with the (6-3) Tennessee Titans visiting the (4-6) Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Thursday Night Football 2022 has been up and down this season, featuring both stinkers and competitive games. Both teams were victorious in week 10, but one was more impressive and may have even turned their season around.

The Titans have a good record and sit on top of the AFC South, but just how good are they? They’re the only team in their division that’s over .500. On top of that, they haven’t won a game against a team with a winning record so far this season. Green Bay enters this one with a losing record, yet they’re still the favorite. It might not be as high scoring as you’d like for a primetime Thursday night game, but it’ll still be a competitive game.

Tennessee Titans (+148) at Green Bay Packers (-175) – Thursday, 8:15 PM EST

Tennessee faced off against the Denver Broncos last week and even though they won, they didn’t look all that impressive. The first quarter was scoreless, but Denver jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the 2nd. It wasn’t going well for the Titans offensively and you can attribute much of that to rusty play at quarterback. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill made his first start since injuring his ankle on October 23rd. With just 12 seconds left on the clock in the 1st half, Tannehill threw a touchdown to bring the score to 10-7. In the middle of the 3rd, Tannehill threw a 63-yard touchdown pass on a trick-play to go up 14-10 and it was the last time the Titans trailed. When it was all said and done, the score was 17-10.

It’s a simple recipe for the Titans. Play good defense and when on offense, hand the ball to Derrick Henry, and hope he works his magic. However, will Derrick Henry be enough to beat Aaron Rodgers and the Packers? After last week, the answer is no.

Tannehill will have to do more with his arm to help his team get to 7-3. The Packers will do what every team does and stack the box for 1st and 2nd downs. He’s going to have to make the throws on 3rd downs to keep drives alive. Tennessee’s defense looked elite in week 10 against the Kansas City Chiefs, but they just looked average this past Sunday.  It doesn’t help that their defense is one of the most banged up in the league. They just added cornerback Caleb Farley to the Injured Reserve and a whopping six other players are listed as either out or questionable. The defense will  have to step it up with some key missing pieces against one of our generation’s greatest quarterbacks and the team certainly has their work cut out for them.

Titans Notable Injuries: CB Lonnie Johnson (O), C Ben Jones, (O), S Amani Hooker (O)

Sunday’s game between the Packers and Dallas Cowboys was a treat and spoiler alert: Aaron Rodgers still owns the Cowboys. At first, it didn’t look like the Packers would end the day with a win. Green Bay was down 28-14 and things were looking grim. The Packers were on their way to 3-7 and their playoff hopes were hanging on by a thread. Then, Rodgers connected with Christian Watson for a 39 yard touchdown pass to bring it within one score. Rodgers followed that up throwing his 3rd touchdown pass of the evening to Watson with just over 2two minutes left.

The game went to overtime and after a failed drive by Dallas. In overtime, the Packers walked down the field and kicked a game winning field goal to win the game 31-28. It was a classic come from behind victory by the Green Bay quarterback and maybe even gave the team just enough confidence to go on a run and become a threat before the playoffs began.

The Packers opened as 3-point favorites at home against the Titans. It’ll be in the high-20s at kick off and Rodgers will be extremely comfortable at home in the frozen tundra. He’s done it 100 times already and this is just another Thursday Night Football 2022. The Packers offense will look to keep the ball rolling against Tennessee. Watson had his breakout game and Rodgers found his new favorite target. Add in running back Aaron Jones and this team is just too much for the Titans to handle on offense.

Packers Notable Injuries: CB Shemar Jean-Charles (D), LB De’Vondre Campbell (O)

Titans’ vs Packers NFL Week 11 Picks

The one and only, “King Henry” will have his way on the ground against a Packers team that is susceptible to the run. However, Tennessee just doesn’t have a good enough quarterback or wide receivers to make them a threat through the air. Cornerback Jaire Alexander will keep things quiet for the Titans passing game. On offense, both Aarons, Rodgers, and Jones, will put up big numbers.

Final Score: Green Bay 24 – Tennessee 20

Wicked Wagers – Packers -3 (-120) / Over 41 points (-110)

Wicked Prop – Aaron Jones to Score 2 Touchdowns (+525)
