Colorado Sports Betting Overview

As of May 1st, 2020, legal sports betting is authorized in Colorado. On November 5th, 2019, voters approved Proposition DD to allow legislators to enact sports betting legislation. The CO legislature approved bill HB19-1327 to authorize legal sports betting. The law restricts sports betting to the casinos already licensed by Black Hawk, Central City, and Cripple Creek, but it allows them to offer mobile and online sports betting. Fees and taxes are at the reasonable end of the scale. The 10 percent sports betting tax is higher than the 6.75 percent in Nevada, but lower than in many other states. For example, in Pennsylvania, casinos have to pay 36 percent on their sports betting revenue.

You must be 21 or older to bet on sports in Colorado, on par with most other states. Colorado saw 15 sports betting apps launch within the first year of legalized wagering, signaling that Colorado would be a saturated market within the United States. As of 2022, there are 25 legal sports betting apps active in the Centennial State. This means that you have plenty of options as far as legal sportsbooks to do business with.
