NFC East Off-Season Reset & Odds

Dallas Cowboys

2021 Record: 12-5-0 (6-0-0)

The Cowboys worked this offseason mostly in the area of talent retention, although they did elect to trade away receiver Amari Cooper. Dallas seems to like what they have and are determined to build around their existing key pieces. America’s team acquitted themselves well in the draft, filling needs on the offensive line and at receiver.

A major question still lingers on whether Zeke Elliott can return to being a game-breaker at running back after a so-so 2021 campaign and if not, Tony Pollard has shown some promise in filling that role.

James Washington, WR

Philadelphia Eagles

2021 Record: 9-8-0 (3-3-0)

Philadelphia has been able to improve immensely on both sides of the ball this offseason.  On offense, they added two receivers, including a bone fide superstar in A.J. Brown to pair with DeVonta Smith. Looks like Jalen Hurts will not lack for targets this season.

Defensively, the Eagles drafted two from the best unit in college football, Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean. Haason Reddick tops off an effort to improve the defense as a true rush threat.

A group of real stars have descended upon Philadelphia, and that will be entertaining to watch at the very least.

Washington Commanders

2021 Record: 7-10-0 (2-4-0)

After only a year in Indianapolis, Carson Wentz is now the face of the franchise in Washington – here we go again…

The Commanders accomplished their offseason goal of finding a quarterback, but the move was not made without skepticism. Wentz is no doubt an upgrade at the position and Washington signed Andrew Norwell to protect their investment. Washington also drafted a top receiver, Jahan Dotson, in the first round to add another weapon to compliment McLaurin. On what was an extremely strong red-zone defense in 2021, question marks at linebacker remain as we head into 2022.

Nobody is going to mistake this team as a favorite to win the division but they should be more competitive in what is viewed as an easier division.

Notable offseason additions

Carson Wentz, QB

Andrew Norwell, G

New York Giants

2021 Record: 4-13-0 (1-5-0)

Brian Daboll takes over a squad that floundered on offense down the stretch after a hot start. Quarterback Daniel Jones could benefit from Daboll as well as the incoming pieces on the offensive line. Assuming receivers can stay healthy, the Giants may have a formidable offensive unit.

What a draft it was for the Giants, with 4 selections in the first 65 picks. The two first-rounders appear to be ready to make an instant impact, and project a positive trajectory for the franchise after some less-than-fortunate years.

With the longest odds to win the division in the NFC East, New York just looks to make some strides in the right direction.

Notable offseason additions

Mark Glowinski, G

Jon Feliciano, C
