It’s finally here. The college football championship weekend has arrived, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Before we dive into our College Football Best Bets, let’s take a look at a few key storylines.
Most of the chatter this week is around Texas and their path to make the FBS Playoff. They’ve got one loss but they also beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa. All eyes will be on Alabama, likely if they win they are in but if they lose then Texas should have their path.

This line is a bit juiced but the rest of the market is around the -220 mark for this game. Georgia and Alabama defenses have both been sub par this year compared to previous years. Additionally, Georgia has battled injuries on the offensive line all year and is sixth in sacks allowed per game at 0.83 per game.
On the other side, Alabama just came off last week where they gave up 244 passing yards to Auburn, who isn’t even the most pass heavy team. Alabama has lived and died based off how Jalen Milroe plays. Alabama goes as Milroe goes. Look for Georgia to hone in on that and take care of the football. I like them to come out on top against the Crimson Tide, showing them they are the team to go through now in the SEC.

Burton has caught 33 balls this year for 7 touchdowns. He’s showing that if it isn’t Milroe in the ground game in the red zone, then he is going to be the highest targeted receiver when they go to the passing game. Last year, Burton also caught 40 balls for 7 touchdowns. He is pre-dominately known as a deep ball receiver averaging 22.3 yards per game (one of the top in all FBS), but the past two seasons he has gotten into the end zone quite a bit as well.
Alabama will be trailing for most of the game, meaning Milroe’s legs will have to take a back seat to more of an air it out style.
