Friday WBNA Preview & Wicked Wagers (July 1)

Betting on women’s basketball is becoming popular quite rapidly, and I’m no exception. With or without the men’s basketball hiatus, these women are fun to watch, and fun to bet on. These are tonight’s games that I’m getting in on, and you should tail my WNBA bets if you want to make a little cash.

Los Angeles Sparks (7-11) @ Dallas Wings (9-11)

The Dallas Wings host the LA Sparks tonight, and this one is shaping up to be a good game. The Wings should get a key piece back in their lineup tonight, with Allisha Gray listed as probable. They also expect to get Satou Sabally back from injury, and both players will provide an impact on this game. Gray is a talented guard, and the Wings will certainly be excited to get her 14.5 PPG, 5.6 REBS, and defensive prowess back tonight. Dallas has had a rough stretch this season largely because of injuries, and is only 3-7 over their last 10 games, including getting waxed in Minnesota a couple of nights ago.

The Wings are also sub .500 at home this year, but I still think this is a good bounce back spot for them. The Sparks haven’t had much of a “Spark” over their last 10 games either. Granted, they have had a much tougher schedule over that span, having to play Las Vegas twice, Seattle and Chicago, so 4-6 over their last 10 isn’t horrible.

A lot like the NBA, its important to think about not only the matchup, but the spot in the schedule. LA heads to Texas for one game, before getting a long seven game home stretch. There’s a good chance that they will be looking ahead to that home stretch, and get caught by a Dallas team coming off of a blowout loss, looking to get back on track. The difference for me in this game outside of the above, is the defense, and Dallas is a good defensive team who I think can generate turnovers tonight to build a lead.

The books have Dallas favored by 4.5, with a point total set at 166.5. The total seems like a very sharp number, so I’m going to focus on the spread in this one. I like to look at the money line correlation, where tonight we see Dallas at -196 straight up, meaning the books like Dallas to win, and are indicating they think it’s going to be a two possession game. I’m going to lean on that money line to make my decision to lay the 4.5 points. While not posted yet, I will also be looking at the first half with Dallas, I expect that line to be -2.5 based on the full game line, and I will be playing that as well.

I really like both of these WNBA bets, and feel good about the better team getting their players back and playing at home.

Lay it with Dallas.

Las Vegas Aces (14-5) @ Minnesota Lynx (6-14)

Las Vegas is first in the Western Conference, and earlier this week it was announced that they have four players that made the All-Star team. Rebounding leader A’ja Wilson, Dearica Hamby, Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young were all named All Stars.

All those nominations speak to how loaded this team is, and how they are able to average almost 90 points per game. The Aces do it all, and are fierce on the defensive end of the court. They force turnovers and shoot the ball at an impressive rate. Minnesota is not nearly as impressive despite destroying the Dallas Wings a couple of nights ago. The Lynx are actually one of the worst teams in the league and they don’t close out games well when it’s close.

The books have Las Vegas favored by 4.5 right now, with a lofty point total of 174.5. Both of these teams score a ton of points, with Vegas at almost 90 PPG, and the Lynx just shy of 81. I expect a high scoring, run and gun type of game tonight, and have my eyes on this total. I like the over tonight with Vegas having surpassed 90 points in 9 games this year, and both of the previous games between these two teams have gone over this total. The spread in this one is a little more suspicious to me. If Vegas was at home, I think this would be a double digit spread, and I don’t necessarily see why it’s a short line tonight. Checking the injury reports, there’s nothing out yet to lead me to believe that the Aces will be missing players.

Right now you can get the -4.5 with Vegas at almost even money, and I can’t resist. While I think the best play of this game is the over, I will also be laying the 4.5 points with Vegas as they are a far better team than the lowly Lynx.

Wicked Wagers – Over 174.5 / Vegas -4.5

Indiana Fever (5-16) @ Seattle Storm (12-7)

The last game of the night features the Seattle Storm, favored by 13.5 at home against the Indiana Fever. There’s not much to say except: Indiana is terrible, and Seattle is not.

I’m going to be using Seattle as a parlay piece tonight for my WNBA betting with the following parlay play:

Bonus Wicked Wager (Parlay) Dallas 1H -2.5 + Aces/Lynx Over 174.5 + Seattle -13.5

Odds for the parlay should be somewhere around +550 by tip off, and I like the chances that this one hits!
